About Moneyquids – our reason for being
Hi, I’m Kerry, the founder of Moneyquids.co.uk. The inspiration for Moneyquids came from watching my own young adult children navigate our increasingly complex financial world. My eldest son was particularly instrumental in getting me to finally break ground on this website after stating he ‘doesn’t have a clue about finance stuff’ and thought a website for young people like him was a great idea.
As a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, I’ve worked as an accountant for over 20 years, both in the commercial sector and more recently in the not-for-profit sector. After 20-plus years of number crunching, I was ready for a change, and I decided to share my knowledge to provide young people with the financial guidance I wish I’d had at their age.
I recall all too clearly how ignorant and financially oblivious I was at a similar age. As a young twenty-something with no understanding of the impact of compounding interest, I bought my second car on finance at a shockingly high interest rate. I was living abroad at the time in a country with double-figure interest rates, scary stuff! Suffice to say, the interest I ended up paying was pretty much the price of the car again.
After studying financial management as part of my degree in my mid-twenties, I have since used compounding interest mostly for my benefit. I hope you will be able to do this too.
Moneyquids’ mission is to guide young and not-so -young people on their financial journeys. We aim to provide clear, concise financial guidance without the fluff. We hope the broad range of topics covered on Moneyquids will help young people confidently navigate the world of finance and build personal wealth.
Moneyquids comes to you from the countryside, which is why there are photos of Alpacas and lambs decorating the website – I think they are far more appealing than pics of piles of coins (there are a few boring money pics though). I hope you enjoy the photos together with the website content.
